Gatehouse Transitional Living

Gatehouse Transitional Living

For Those in Recovery, a Place to Transition Back Into Society

Upon leaving treatment, individuals may need extra but less intensive support. GateHouse Transitional Living (GTL) homes are used to continue practicing their recovery skills in the community in a home-based peer environment. These are single family residences While it’s ideal for transitional living residents to have first gone through our Residential Extended Care program, it is not a requirement.
We invite you to check out our transitional residences located throughout Lancaster County. Each one provides a calm, serene environment for recovery.

GATEHOUSE TRANSITIONAL LIVING

The primary criterion for this living environment is a willingness to be abstinent from substances. Self-help (i.e. 12 step) meetings and outside recovery support services are encouraged or required. Weekly house meetings are a component, where chores and overall house functioning are discussed within the community. Our transitional living homes do have case management oversight that works closely with the on-sight house managers. The case managers are in place if there are house issues that cannot be resolved internally. There are no in-house clinical services offered at this level, These peer-run facilities are best utilized by the individual who has physically and psychologically stabilized for a period of time from substance use, and would benefit from a drug free environment that enables them to implement personal recovery in a safe community. They are appropriate for a more mature individual who has established adult living skills, is able to self-regulate, and is committed to recovery. Living in a GTL residence doesn’t mean all work and no play, however. Our transitional living team regularly comes together to plan fun, lighthearted group activities such as monthly dinners, bowling nights, and holiday parties for everyone to enjoy.
