Extended Recovery Care Residences for Those with Substance Use Disorder in Lancaster County
The GateHouse treatment program is based upon a home-like atmosphere of understanding and support. The client is treated with respect at all times, with encouragement given for the pursuit of long-term recovery. It is in this atmosphere that self-esteem, self-respect, and self-discipline are fostered and developed. We believe an essential structure is established to aid and support recovery.
The GateHouse Residential Extended Care facilities are designed to welcome individuals for a minimum of three months, our residential extended care homes offer an inviting home-like setting based directly in the community to specifically address unique issues confronting people in recovery as they endeavor to re-enter society.
Once the decision is made to enter our Residential Extended Care program, residents take comfort in knowing they’re in a safe and supportive setting. Each of our three Residential Extended Care homes are beautifully appointed and located in the community with easy access to bus stops, local businesses, grocery stores, and additional support services.
Each residence is also equipped with all the resources necessary for a comfortable modern lifestyle, including supplemental food, cleaning supplies, a washer and dryer, and kitchen appliances. In addition, Residential Extended Care clients also have access to cable, a desktop computer, a phone, and high-speed internet.
Facility Services
Life at many of our facilities looks very similar to independent living, but with the added benefit of treatment within a safe, supportive, home-like environment, residents are able to focus on treating the main factors that contribute to their substance use.
At our Residential Extended Care homes, you will have access to:
- Individualized treatment planning and attention to your needs and addiction patterns
- Individual, group, and family counseling with certified professionals
- Daily attendance at peer groups
- Daily 12-step meeting attendance with involvement in the fellowship
- Counseling services
- Employment readiness programs
- Life skills education classes
- Consultations and referrals to other professionals
- Recreational activities
- Comprehensive discharge plan
- Post-treatment support

Program Components
Upon arrival, residents will take part in our admission program. This includes meeting with staff for intake process including documentation, and orientation into the treatment program. An assessment will be performed, and then summary will be provided to our team. Each resident will receive an individualized treatment plan that will be used throughout their stay.
At the time of departure, residents will receive a discharge plan, an aftercare plan, and a relapse prevention plan. If needed, a referral to another level of care or facility will be recommended. We encourage all participants in our programs to continue with follow-up services whether it is our outpatient services or GateHouse Transitional Living , our transitional recovery housing.
